We are back from our fabulous trip to London and I am trying to hit the reset button. It is hard to get your timing back on track and figure out what day it is after a great vacation. Today I am busy doing laundry, sorting mail, putting things away, and following up on things I missed.
But honestly, right now is a great time to take a deep breath and reset for another reason. Lent began last week, and I always find it a time to reflect on where I am and where I want to be. Lent can be a time to give up, and it can also be a time to take on. What does this time need to look like for us?
Serendipitously, my friend Nissa and I found ourselves sitting in St. Paul's Cathedral for an Ash Wednesday service last week. As I sat quietly in that marvelous and historical place, God felt a lot bigger and life felt a lot fuller than in the frenetic pace of everyday life. It is easy to miss the beauty of the day to day if we aren't careful. Whatever these days mean to you, I hope you will find space to breathe deeply and reset.
